Description

Join your colleagues from across the nation on Thursday, June 13th at 12:00 pm Eastern for an informative and dynamic webinar led by Nicholas Carleton, Ph.D, and Dr. Leslie Anne (LA) Keown.

Dr. Carleton is a Professor of Clinical Psychology, registered clinical psychologist and the Scientific Director for the Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research and Treatment (CIPSRT).

As Executive Director, Dr. Leslie Anne (LA) Keown brings her expertise and extensive experience conducting leading edge research and occupying leadership roles with the Correctional Service of Canada and Statistics Canada to CIPSRT.

LA holds a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) degree in Sociology from the University of Calgary, as well as her Master of Arts (Sociology) and her Ph.D. (Sociology) from the University of Calgary. LA is cross-appointed to Justice Studies and Sociology and Social Studies as an Associate Professor at the University of Regina. She is an Adjunct Research Professor with the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton University. She has authored numerous publications, including articles in the leading journals in her field, and has been the recipient of numerous academic scholarships and awards. LA is a Killam Laureate. LA’s research interests are varied but centered on the Canadian Criminal Justice System and research methodologies that focus on mixed methods or advanced quantitative techniques.

The scope of mental health concerns among public safety personnel (PSP) cannot be fully understood without research. Research also provides a base of evidence for effective treatment and training programs. CIPSRT, in partnership with the Canadian Institute for Health Research (CIHR), has established
a consortium to fund and mobilize research for PSP groups and organizations. CIPSRT strives to be a leader in the mobilization of research supporting the mental health of PSP, their leaders, and their families.

CIPSRT’s mandate also includes establishing and maintaining a network of researchers, post-doctoral fellows, and students working in the field of PSP mental health research. By bringing together the best minds in the field and promoting the development of new experts, CIPSRT can help expand the research
on PSP mental health.

This event will delve into innovative strategies and evidence-based practices designed to enhance the mental and physical well-being of those serving on the front lines. Attendees will gain valuable knowledge on current trends, effective interventions, and practical tools to support the health and resilience of public safety professionals. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from a leading expert in the field and to engage in a meaningful discussion on improving care for our vital workforce.
